I just scanned in a few old documents from my ancestors, and I was struck by the typography on my Grandfather's discharged from the US Army dated February 27, 1919. (Yes that was a long time ago.)

 I specially like the Blackletter used in the heading, but I'm also liking the curious mix of fonts (6 by my count) on a single document. Looks like they hadn't come up with that "no more than 3 fonts in a single document" rule back then.

 Also realize that this form was most likely still hand set (or at least set by a linotype machine) well before the advent of desktop publishing. And the handwriting is also pretty cool too!
